For trail, bush and beach loving families, the iSimangaliso Trail Challenge is the event that offers it all! Set in South Africa’s first World Heritage site, the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, this unique area is one of the most sought after experiential destinations in the country. 

The event is perfectly positioned in the July school holidays, so it’s the ideal opportunity to load up the family and shareisi #21 kids shopped resized a warm winter escape packed with bush and beach experiences.

Although the iSimangaliso Trail Challenge primarily aims to provide runners with a one-of-a-kind trail running experience, a major focus is placed on the incorporation of spectators!

Spectator packages can be booked separately (details below) and not only are they encouraged to partake in Stage 1, the 6km full moon beach run, but there will be a score of other activities on offer. Some of these are free of charge whilst a few will incur a small fee. These include guided game walks, game drives, mountain biking, horse riding and more!

The partnership between KZNTR, the iSimangaliso Wetland Park and the legendary Wilderness Leadership School have added an unequalled quality to the event, contextualising the wilderness areas that participants will experience.

For runners jetting into King Shaka from all corners of the country, the airport shuttle will depart the airport on Friday 29th June at 2pm and drop runners off again on Sunday 1st July at approx. 5.30pm (we advise not booking a flight that departs before 7pm; shuttle booking essential – email
